WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The incident involving an armed person who barricaded himself at the intersection of 19th and K Streets in the northwest of Washington DC is not related to any act of terrorism, a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman told Sputnik Monday.
According to the source, the roads in the area are blocked by police cars, whereas access to office buildings is also closed.
"There's a barricade at 19 and K, it is not an active shooter situation," Aquita Brown stated, adding that the situation had been contained.
According to her, the investigation into the case is ongoing.
"Barricade situation on K street," the police officer stated, adding that, "The area [is] shut down out of precaution."
