MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Police confirmed that four people had died in the fire, the ABC News reported, adding that five disaster victim identification officers are to be deployed in the area later in the day.
In total, there are four fires burning in the area, while two of them are out of control, at Grass Patch and Salmon Gums, some 90 miles north of Esperance. The blazes reportedly started as a result of a lightning strike.
Bushfires in Australia are frequent during the hotter months of the year, due to Australia's mostly hot, dry climate. Annually, such fires impact extensive areas.
Earlier this year, a devastating bushfire that ha destroyed more than 80,0000 hectares of forest and land not far from Perth in Western Australia’s south west was declared a national disaster.
