MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The final stage of the all-army competition for the Cup of the Russian Defense Ministry will be opened in Moscow on Wednesday, a spokesman for the the Central Army Sports Club (CSKA) said.
On Monday, the finalists of the previous stage, the most skilful officers of the Russian Armed forces, arrived in Moscow to take part in the competition.
"During the four days of the competition, the officers will compete in five sports: shooting, swimming, lifting or snatching two weights, jogging and in the relay race," Col. Sergei Vlasov told RIA Novosti.
According to him, each team consists of ten commanders of different categories, from lieutenant to general.
The competition will be opened by Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Pankov, Vlasov said.
This tournament has been held annually in Russia since 2013, on the initiative of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Last year, the competition was held on November 26-29.
