WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States will cooperate with the Turkish government to seal off the northern border with Syria, US Secretary of State John Kerry said in an interview on Tuesday.
"The entire border of northern Syria — 75 percent of it has now been shut off. And we are entering an operation with the Turks to shut off the other remaining 98 kilometers," Kerry said in an interview with CNN.
On Monday, US President Barack Obama said it is important to limit the space where the Islamic State (ISIL) extremist group can operate in Syria and put the country on path toward reconciliation to eliminate terrorist threat.
