MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "The FIFA Appeal Committee, chaired by Larry Mussenden, has today rejected in full the appeals lodged by Joseph S. Blatter and Michel Platini and confirmed in their entirety the respective decisions," the statement reads.
FIFA added that the decisions could be appealed before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
In late September, the Swiss Office of the Attorney General launched a probe into corruption claims against FIFA President Joseph Blatter over making a "disloyal payment" of $2.05 million to Platini in 2011 at the expense of FIFA, for work allegedly performed in 1999-2002. Blatter and Platini told investigators the payment was legal, but the committee provisionally suspended both last month.
According to Platini, FIFA paid the disputed money for his work on the global competition calendar, a FIFA Goal program supporting global football federation and for accompanying Blatter in his travels without a written contract.
