WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry announced that Washington was helping Ankara to close its common border with Syria in a bid to push out Islamic State militants.
"There are no American forces conducting operations in Turkey…but certainly at the governmental level we're working with the Turks on finding…what can we do," Warren said.
The Joint Task Force spokesperson explained that the United States was looking at possible equipment, advice and expertise they can provide to help the Turks seal that border. He said that most of cooperation was taking place at the "intergovernmental level."
Warren added that US-trained Syrian forces were also on the ground assisting in sealing off the Turkish border using "the skills they learned from us."
