“In the middle of December an Italian delegation headed by [Lega Nord head]Matteo Salvini that also includes me and president of the Lombardy – Russia [Cultural] Association Gianluca Savoini will visit Moscow,” Claudio D'Amico said.
D'Amico underlined that his party supports Russia in its fight against terrorism and welcomes an idea of creating an international coalition against ISIL that could have “a broader approach dealing with the situation in Libya and Iraq.”
“Our party is also against sanctions and believes that they have to be lifted,” D’amico said, adding that the two issues are likely to be discussed during Moscow talks, including at a meeting with representatives of the ruling United Russia Party.
The upcoming visit will become the second trip of Lega Nord Party representatives to Moscow.
In October 2014, the lawmakers met with Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the lower house of Russia's parliament Alexei Pushkov and speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament Sergei Naryshkin.
