"During the telephone conversation, the presidents came to the conclusion that it is necessary to boost international cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Vladimir Putin informed his interlocutor on intensifying [Russia's] military operation against extremist groups in Syria," the statement said.
"Concerning the efforts in searching for criminals linked to the terrorist attack against the Russian aircraft, close cooperation was agreed upon between Russian and Egyptian intelligence," the statement reads.
Putin and Sisi agreed on the need for additional steps to ensure Egyptian-Russian air travel security before flights between the two countries are restored.
Russia and Egypt are coordinating an investigation into the deadliest civil aviation disaster in Russian history that saw all 224 people on board the Kogalymavia flight 9268 die over the Sinai Peninsula on October 31.
Putin labeled the plane crash as "one of the bloodiest" terrorist acts waged against Russia and vowed to hunt down its perpetrators.
