Twenty-eight-year-old Belgian militant Abdelhamid Abaaoud is the alleged mastermind of the Paris terrorist acts, previously thought to have been in Syria, as well as Salah Abdeslam and a potential ninth assailant.
"Abdelhamid Abaaoud was formally identified… His bullet-riddled body was found in the building," the prosecutor's communique reads.
An overnight raid conducted in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis saw a gunman killed, a female suicide bomber self-detonate and seven suspects arrested.
On November 13, in a series of coordinated attacks at various locations in the French capital, extremists killed 129 people and injured 350, many critically.
