WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to Oman News Agency (ONA), the foreign ministry said that at the request of the US government, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said directed his administration to coordinate with Yemeni authorities to help find the three Americans and allow them to leave Yemen.
"The threes US citizens were transported from Sanaa to Muscat onboard of one of the Royal Air Force of Oman air crafts after which they will return to their country," ONA said.
US media earlier reported that Houthi rebels and independent security experts said the three Americans — two of whom are reportedly UN workers — were detained for about two months at a Houthi security building in Sanaa.
Since 2014, Yemen has been in a military conflict between government forces and an armed Houthi political opposition faction.
