Neither France nor the European Union (EU) can remain the same following the deadly Paris terrorist attacks on November 13. It's time to bring some drastic changes to avoid future large-scale terrorist attacks, Dupont-Aignan said.
France needs to revoke citizenship from French residents who joined jihadists and deport those foreign residents, who previously lived in the country before going to the Middle East.
French citizens involved in terrorist acts should be arrested and sent to prison outside of the country. That's why the French government needs to build a prison, the equivalent of the US Guantanamo Bay.
"Those who went to Syria and fought against France can't come back to our country, as if nothing happened. They should be arrested and isolated," Dupont-Aignant told Radio Sputnik.
"I hope constitutional changes proposed by Francois Hollande will help to fight against terrorism. We must regain control over national boundaries and finally abandon the idea of the Schengen zone… We can no longer afford to keep open borders," the French politician said.
ISIL claimed responsibility for terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 129 people and left more than 350 wounded.
Earlier this week, Hollande called for a broad coalition including the United States and Russia to tackle ISIL. Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia and France's navies must develop a joint plan of action for their operations in Syria.
