KUALA LUMPUR (Sputnik) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev suggested raising the issue of undocumented migration at the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia.
"The problem of illegal migration has recently gained priority. Uncontrolled flows of immigrants are taking governments of destination countries aback and exposing legal gaps," Medvedev said at the summit. "The migration issue is relevant for Asia too."
"I believe that a practical dialogue on this topic and experience exchange would be useful within the framework of the ASEAN Summit," the head of the Russian government said at an ASEAN meeting.
The summit of 18 leaders has been overshadowed by terror attacks against France, Russia and Mali on the backdrop of the EU migration crisis. At least two Paris attackers are reported to have travelled through EU Schengen member Greece among a stream of refugees from mostly the Middle East, Asia and North Africa.
