MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the Ahram newspaper, 13 out of Egypt’s 27 governorates are voting Sunday, while the residents of the remaining provinces cast their ballots last month.
The turnout at the elections midday was below average at many stations, according to the media outlet.
Some 160,000 servicemen were deployed to assist the police to ensure the event goes smoothly.
The first vote phase was held in October, with run-offs scheduled for October 27-28 amid a low turnout. Only 7.27 million out of the 27.42 million eligible voters made it to the polling stations, according to the Election Committee. Some 700,000 ballots were deemed invalid.
