PARIS (Sputnik) — The defense chief admitted that an attack on French soil with the use of biological or chemical weapons was "part of the risk that we must take into account," but added it was very difficult to launch such an attack in a foreign territory.
"All precautions have been taken to avoid a risk like this," Le Drian told Europe-1 radio station.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls warned Thursday that terrorists could use chemical or bacteriological weapons against France. The country has been in the state of emergency after a spate of nearly-simultaneous terror attacks by Islamic State militants killed 130 people in Paris last week.
