Earlier in the day, Cameron announced the National Security Strategy and Strategic Defense plan to the parliament which primarily focus on ensuring Britain's ability to respond to various kinds of threats, including terrorism, particularly the Islamic State (ISIL) militant group, cyberattacks and possible international aggression.
The United Kingdom will soon have rapid response operational brigades that can quickly strengthen law enforcement in case of a terrorist attack, Cameron said while presenting the security plan in the House of Commons.
Up to 10,000 troops will be in reserve, and will be ready "as soon as they can be," the prime minister said.
Also UK Prime Minister David Cameron stated that US President Barack Obama applauded the United Kingdom’s (UK) Strategic Defense and Security Review (SDSR) that seeks to strengthen its military and supply it with more equipment amid the growing threat of terrorism.
The new government strategy was announced in the wake of the November 13 terror attacks in Paris, which claimed the lives of at least 130 people. The notorious Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Following the attacks, Cameron pledged to do his utmost to assist France to recover from the attacks and counter terrorism.
On Monday, Cameron met with French President Francois Hollande in Paris to discuss the fight against terrorism and the Syrian issue.
