PARIS (Sputnik) — The spokesperson added that the ships would be delivered to Egypt once new equipment was installed and Egyptian crew underwent training in the first six months of 2016.
"The equipment supplied by the Russian Federation has been removed. In the coming weeks, in December, it will be delivered to Russia in St. Petersburg," the DCNS spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
Moscow and Paris officially terminated the $1.3-billion contract on the delivery of the warships in August. Moscow has received some $1 billion in compensation.
Cairo and Paris signed a contract in October for the purchase of two French-made Mistral-class helicopter carriers originally built for Russia.
