WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Sixty-six percent of the US public said Obama’s strategy to fight terrorism is unclear, a new CBS News poll found. Only 23 percent of Americans think the administration has a certain plan.
The popularity of the US administration’s approach to combat terrorism hit the record low, according to the poll.
Twenty percent of the polled said airstrikes alone will not remove the terrorist threat, the poll showed. More than 60 percent of US citizens believe ground troops would be necessary to defeat the IS.
President Obama’s opponents in Congress have repeatedly accused the administration of not having a strategy to defeat ISIL. Washington leads a coalition of 65 nations involved in the campaign against the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria.
