Some 2.5 Million People Left Without Electricity in Crimea - Ministry
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Some 1.6 million people remain without electricity in Russia's Black Sea peninsula, after several power line support structures in southern Ukraine that supply electricity to Crimea were blown up on Friday.

"We have no information yet… whether any actions are taken, in particular when they will have an effect, when electricity will be restored, although we call on them to restore power," Peskov told reporters.

Most of the region was in darkness after electricity was cut. Crimea declared a state of emergency and switched to locally-based power generation. Medical and other crucial elements of the social infrastructure are on backup power.

On Sunday, the Russian Energy Ministry said in a memo that up to 13 gas turbine electric generators were bought online to provide power for Crimea for up to a month. Emergency electricity and water supply schedules have been introduced on the peninsula.
