WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On October 3, a US AC-130 gunship shot 30mm cannon shells for 30 minutes into a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan killing at least 22 medical staff and patients, including three children. Another 24 people are still missing and are believed dead.
"General Campbell will reveal on Wednesday [the findings of] the inquiry into the attack on the hospital in Kunduz," Cook told reporters at a daily briefing on Tuesday.
Cook acknowledged that US tactical air support operations needed to be strictly controlled to prevent such a tragedy happening again.
"The proper protocols need to be followed both in Afghanistan and around the world," he said.
