WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The swing state Democrats are ready to welcome Syrian refugees.
"Iowa Democrats support 81-13 percent accepting Syrian refugees into the United States and support 80-14 percent accepting these refugees into Iowa," Quinnipiac University stated.
As a contrast to the Quinnipiac University poll that covered opinions in Iowa, another poll by the Economist Group/YouGov covering the entire United States found that six in ten respondents say the US government should not allow Syrian asylum seekers to enter the country.
In September, President Barack Obama announced his plan to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees in the United States in 2016.
However, after the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris, US lawmakers and state governors have warned they would not allow the resettlement of any Syrian refugees.
