On Sunday evening, Belgian forces filled the streets of Brussels as citizens were asked to remain indoors because of a security threat. As they searched for suspected terrorists, the authorities asked residents to keep quiet if they witnessed any police operations. Posting details on social media could, after all, tip off the targets of any raid.
And if you can’t tweet about police operations, the next best thing is tweeting pictures of your pets. #BrusselsLockdown went viral, with thousands of cat photos posted to confuse any would-be terrorists.
Recognizing good branding when they see it, Belgium’s three tourist authorities have inserted dozens of cats into a trippy 20-second video, highlighting the most scenic parts of the city.
