ATHENS (Sputnik) — On November 25-26, Tsipras held negotiations with both Palestinian and Israeli leadership to discuss the major regional issues.
"Greece has supported and supportsб within the framework of the United Nations, the European Union and other international forums, the creation of a viable Palestinian state with the borders of 1967 and with the capital in East Jerusalem," Tsipras said.
He added that the position of Athens regarding the Palestinian state was not affected by the bilateral relations with Israel and the Israeli leadership was informed about Athens' stance on the issue.
Palestinians seek the recognition of their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, partially occupied by Israel, as well as in the Gaza Strip. They have designated Jerusalem as their capital and have called on Israel to return territories seized in the 1967 Six-Day War.
