According to the former minister, in this situation, the parties should refer to the "successful experience of negotiations between Iran and the six international mediators, which culminated in an agreement." It is necessary to carefully examine the principles, which have made this agreement possible and to apply them in relation to Syria, Shaath added.
Syria has been mired in a civil war between the government forces and a number of opposition groups and militant organizations, including the Islamic State terrorists, since 2011.
The ISIL jihadist group claimed responsibility for the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, and injured over 360.
