BERLIN (Sputnik) — A 34-year-old man arrested in Germany on suspicion of supplying arms to the November 13 Paris attackers is said to have modified pneumatic weapons to function as firearms, local media reported, citing a spokeswoman for the Stuttgart Prosecutor's Office.
"He converted legal starter pistols to fire live ammunition, which were subsequently sold on the Internet," the spokeswoman was quoted as saying by Das Erste television.
Earlier in the day, German Bild newspaper reported that the arms dealer, identified as Sascha W. from Magstadt, a town in Germany’s Baden-Wurttemberg state, sold weapons on the Darknet, where he had his own trading platform called "DW Guns."
On November 13, a series of terrorist attacks were staged across the French capital, killing 130 people and injuring over 350.
One of the attacks occurred at the Stade de France stadium, where French President Francois Hollande was at the time watching a friendly match between France and Germany. Another one occurred at the Bataclan concert hall.
The Islamic State jihadist group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
