MOSCOW (Sputnik) – New machines to evacuate motor and armored vehicles from the battlefield will enter into service in Russia by 2019, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Dmitry Bulgakov said Friday.
"We expect to complete the development of new evacuation means of armored and motor vehicles in the next three to four years," Bulgakov said at an Armed Forces materiel and technical support assembly of military department heads.
Bulgakov said next year’s plans include developing reconnaissance vehicles, unified evacuation vehicles based on the Tornado truck, as well as tracked evacuation and repair vehicles.
"We are currently developing tactical and technical requirements and specifications to carry out development projects for this technology," he added.
The Russian Armed Forces are undergoing a $325-billion rearmament program, including the upgrading of new armored vehicles and automotive equipment.
