Over 570,000 people have marched in 175 countries across the world to draw attention to climate issues, making the action the biggest set of global marches in history, a campaign director at Avaaz.org, a global advocacy organization, said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Paris will host the 21st UN Climate Change Conference from November 30 to December 11. The conference aims to reach a legally binding agreement on climate change.

"Over 570,000 people are calling with one voice for global leaders to deliver a 100% clean energy future at the Paris climate summit. Despite events being cancelled across France, global actions were larger than last year's massive march in New York, breaking records in Bangladesh, Australia, Britain and more," Emma Ruby-Sachs said in a statement emailed to Sputnik.

The number of rallies’ participants is still provisional and is likely to increase since further marches are due to take place in Mexico City, Ottawa and Vancouver.

The deal the parties seek to reach in the French capital would replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. A previous attempt to substitute the accord at the climate conference in Copenhagen in 2009 ended in an impasse.
