PARIS (Sputnik) — France will take only democratic measures in its counter-terrorism struggle, Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, religious affairs adviser to the French Foreign Affairs Ministry, told Sputnik on Monday.
"The French authorities were repeatedly advised to order the Muslim communities out of the country… But we do not want to diverge from the democratic path," Peaucelle said.
Peaucelle said that the exchange of intelligence and international cooperation between Western and Arab states should be strengthened to fight against terror groups.
On November 13, a series of terrorist attacks was carried out at various locations in the French capital, leading to the death of 130 people and injuring over 360 others. Radicals from Islamic State (known as Daesh in the Arab world), a jihadist group banned in Russia, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
