MOSCOW (Sputnik) – British Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to call for a global agreement to mitigate global warming within the framework of the ongoing climate conference in Paris, local media reported Monday.
Paris is currently hosting the 21st UN Climate Change Conference, ending December 11. Some 130 leaders and top diplomats from dozens of countries are expected to reach a legally binding agreement on climate change.
Cameron is expected to call for an agreement that includes specific, long-term goals to tackle global warming, The Guardian reported.
Cameron will set out priorities that include the creation of a system of enforcement for emissions reduction commitments, as well as to provide support for developing countries in easing the effects of climate change, focusing on the acknowledged role of business in ending practices that are proven to contribute to global warming.
