UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – Russia has begun consultations with the UN Security Council members on the draft resolution on implementation of an earlier resolution on curbing the financing of the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) militant group, the Russian envoy to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said.
“We are not pleased with how resolution 2199, adopted on our initiative, is controlled and implemented. We would like to toughen this procedure,” Churkin told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
According to the official, the text of the new resolution is already being discussed with some of the UNSC members.
Russia, having outlawed the Daesh and designated it as a terrorist group, has repeatedly called on the UN Security Council to determine who was buying oil from the militants. Syria has repeatedly accused Turkey of funding the Daesh.
