MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Public support for the Sweden Democrats party, which opposes high immigration levels to the country, increased to nearly 20 percent, a recent poll revealed on Tuesday.
According to a survey conducted by the Swedish government agency responsible for statistics, if parliamentary elections were held in late November, the Sweden Democrats party would receive some 19.9 percent of the vote.
The voting results for Social Democratic and Green parties in the same scenario would concurrently decrease, according to the poll.
The Sweden Democrats criticize existing government immigration policy for its perceived inability to manage problems stemming from the influx of migrants to Sweden. The Scandinavian state is one of the most desired destinations for the hundreds of thousands of Middle Eastern and North African asylum seekers who have moved through the EU in 2015.
