WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Supreme Court justices decided 5-2 in favor of new boundaries for Florida’s 27 congressional districts, ABC News reported. Judge Barbara Pariente was quoted as saying the change would bring important finality to litigation concerning the state’s redistricting that has been in court for 40 years.
The changes would kick US Representatives Dan Webster, Gwen Graham and Carlos Curbelo out of office, according to media reports.
In 2010, Florida voters authorized the ‘Fair Districts’ standards that said legislators could not draw districts with the sole purpose of helping incumbents or members of their political parties.
