The National Coordinator for NATO at Montenegro’s Foreign Ministry, Vesko Garсeviс, said that he does not have any comments with regard to NATO's invitation for Montenegro.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The National Coordinator for NATO at Montenegro’s Foreign Ministry, Vesko Garсeviс, refused to comment on Wednesday with regard to NATO's invitation for the country to begin talks on joining the alliance.

“No comment at the moment,” Garcevic told Sputnik Wednesday.

NATO Membership at Odds With ‘Real' Interests of Montenegrins
Earlier in the day, Podgorica was invited to start accession talks to become NATO's 29th member.

In September, the United States announced that it was ready to extend an invitation in December to Montenegro to join the bloc.

Since late September, Montenegro has seen ongoing anti-government protests with thousands of citizens gathering in the streets of the country's capital, Podgorica, to demand that Montenegro stay out of the US-led NATO military bloc.
