Unidentified individuals wearing masks hurled Molotov cocktails at a night club in Cairo killing at least 18 people, local media reported Friday, citing security officials.
Earlier reports said 12 people were killed and another five injured.
A lot of visitors died of smoke inhalation or were burnt to death, because the nigh club was located in a basement with no means to escape.
The police is presently conducting a search operation, however, according to preliminary reports, the casualties were among Egypt citizens only.
Security officials reported that one of the attackers was a former employee, who was recently fired from the club, according to Al Arabiya News.
According to the Watan newspaper, the night club is located on Nile Street in Cairo’s Agouza District.
