"In light of the introduction by Russia of ban on deliveries of agricultural products from Turkey, the Egyptian side informed of willingness and capability to increase supplies of plant products to the Russian market, including citrus fruits," the watchdog said in statement.
Besides, Egypt would like to enhance deliveries of dairy products to Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor said.
"The Russian side has expressed readiness to consider all the [Egyptian] initiatives in an expeditious manner. The parties agreed on the need for technical video consultations between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the competent authorities in Egypt, which may take place in the next week," the statement read.
New niches for food suppliers emerged in Russian market as earlier this week the Russian government banned the import of a range of fruit and vegetables as well as chicken and chicken products from Turkey, effective from January 1, 2016.
