CHISINAU (Sputnik) – The Moldovan left-wing opposition is set to expand the scale of street protests in the country’s capital, demanding the government's resignation, a spokesperson for Moldova’s Our Party said Friday.
"The street protests will be intensified. Nothing and nobody can force us to abandon the objectives of liberation from the rule of oligarchs, thieves and corrupt officials. Moldova is on the verge of financial and economic collapse, and the authorities are not finding solutions to the problem," the spokesperson stated.
The protests are organized primarily by two political parties, the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova and the left-wing Our Party.
Our Party leader Renato Usatii, is also the mayor of the country’s second largest city of Balti. His party was removed from the ballot in November 2014, a couple of days before the parliamentary elections.
