US President Barack Obama said that the United States needs to spend more on infrastructure than the amount allocated in the Highway Bill that Congress passed on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States needs to spend more on infrastructure than the amount allocated in the Highway Bill that Congress passed on Thursday, US President Barack Obama said in a press release.

"Congress should pass a bill like the Grow America Act [that] invests even more in our roads and highways than the bill passed last night so we can meet our country’s infrastructure needs," Obama stated on Friday.

Obama said he applauded the bipartisan compromise that was required to pass the legislation, but added that the Congress ought to recognize they still have work to do to address America’s infrastructure requirements.
