MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — On Wednesday, an amendment blocking the UK airstrikes in Syria was defeated by 390-211 votes in the UK parliament. Later, 397 British lawmakers approved the extension of anti-ISIL airstrikes to Syria, while 223 were against.
"I think it [growth of terrorism in the UK] is inevitable, it’s what they want and they will thrive on it. And we will find ourselves in the position before long that we will be sending in ground troops," Bruce Kent said.
On Thursday, CNN reported that ISIL operatives from the United Kingdom have been instructed to return to their home country and carry out an attack.
"I think the biggest thing here is having our government deal with the animosities they have created in the Muslim world," Kent also said.
Daesh, a radical Sunni group, prohibited in many countries including Russia, has seized vast areas in Iraq and Syria. The group, as well as its affiliates, have claimed responsibility for a number of recent terrorist acts, including the November 13 Paris attacks that killed over 100 people.
A US-led international coalition, which includes the United Kingdom, has been conducting airstrikes against the group since September 2014. Russia has been carrying out a separate aerial campaign against ISIL in Syria since September 30, 2015, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
