“The United States today announced a contribution of nearly $24 million in new humanitarian assistance from the United States to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),” the release said.
The State Department added that the assistance will allow to help refugees and migrants facing the onset of winter, especially in Greece, the Balkans, and other parts of Europe.
The UNHCR provides food, water, temporary shelter and establishes areas to process and screen arriving refugees.
