The suspects behind the shooting in San Bernardino supported the so-called Daesh militant group.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Daesh militants, also known as ISIL/the Islamic State, said that the suspects behind the shooting in the Californian city of San Bernardino were supporters of the group, local media reported Saturday.

"We pray to God to accept them as martyrs," the CNN network quoted the Daesh-owned al-Bayan radio as saying.

On Wednesday, a shooting at San Bernardino's Inland Regional Center killed 14 people, and injured over 20 others. Police identified the shooters as a US-born man of Pakistani origin Syed Farook and his Pakistani wife Tashfeen Malik.

Later media reports claimed that Farook and Malik had contacts with Islamist organizations, including the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front and Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries including Russia.
