“On Sunday, December 6th at 8:00PM EST, [01:00 GMT on Monday] President Obama will address the nation from the Oval Office about the steps our government is taking to fulfill his highest priority: keeping the American people safe,” a statement on the White House’s website said.
According to the statement, Obama “will also discuss the broader threat of terrorism, including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how we will defeat it.”
On Wednesday, a shooting at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California claimed lives of 14 people and injured 21 others. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said Friday it had found indications that the two perpetrators had been under the influence of radical ideas.
According to the statement, the president will provide an update on the ongoing investigation into the San Bernardino attack.
