More than 960,000 migrants have arrived in Germany over the last 11 months, Passauer Neue Presse wrote referring to the German Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The data was obtained from the so-called EASY-System, in which the federal police registers arriving refugees. The newspaper also reported that the number of unprocessed applications of asylum seekers received by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees increased up to 356,000 by the end of November.
The European Union, and particularly Germany, has been trying to cope with a large-scale refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants fleeing their home countries in the Middle East and North Africa to escape violence and poverty.
According to the latest Frontex data, about 1.2 million migrants entered the EU over the first ten months of 2015. The European Commission earlier stated that Europe is currently facing the biggest immigration crisis since WWII.
