MOSCOW (Sputnik) – London police have charged a man with attempted murder for a stabbing attack at an underground station, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement Monday.
"Muhaydin Mire, 29 of Sansom Road, E11 appears in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, charged with the attempted murder of a 56-year-old man," the statement read.
The Guardian reported, citing eyewitnesses, that the attacker was saying "this is for Syria" before stabbing three men at the Leytonstone underground station late Saturday.
Footage of the attack circulated online showed police tasing and subduing the suspected assailant.
