WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to a poll by MSNBC/Telemundo, some 58 percent of US respondents say Trump has been "hurting" the image of the Republican party.
Slightly more than a half of the polled, or 52 percent, say the statements Trump has made during his campaign are "insulting and offensive."
Moreover, majority of the respondents say they would likely support Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over Trump.
However, the Republican frontrunner has come under fire for what critics have called offensive remarks toward immigrants and Muslims.
Most recently, Trump proposed implementing a mandatory database to track immigrants and Muslims following the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris. The mogul has also come under fire for characterizing Mexican immigrants as being rapists and bringing crime to the United States.
