MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Quoting an unnamed source, Russian media outlets issued reports, on Tuesday, about a Rostov-on-Don Kilo-class Russian submarine approaching the Syrian coast.
"This question should be addressed to the military, I do not possess such information," Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin likewise has no information about Russia's intention to address the issue of the Turkish military presence in Iraq at the UN Security Council, Peskov said, redirecting the question to the foreign ministry. Turkey has been accused by the Iraqi authorities of violating their country's sovereignty by deploying its troops in northern Iraq last week.
Turkey claimed that its forces were in the country to equip the Iraqi military to fight Islamic State (IS, or Daesh in Arabic), while Iraq said that it never invited the Turkish forces to enter its country.
Russia has been conducting aerial counter-terrorist operations against Daesh in Syria, since September 30. Daesh is an extremist organization, outlawed in Russia.
