The Sukhoi Su-34 (NATO reporting name: Fullback) and the Sukhoi Su-35 (NATO reporting name: Flanker-E), called the pride of the Russian Armed Forces by Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov, are some of the most advanced military aircraft Russia has.
While technically a 4++ generation aircraft, Su-35 utilizes a number of fifth-generation technologies which give it an edge over its foreign counterparts.
In late September 2015, several Su-34 aircraft were deployed to the Hmeymim airbase in Syria to take part in the airborne campaign waged by the Russian Aerospace Forces against Daesh.
