BEIJING (Sputnik) – On Tuesday, the Republic of Korea Navy fired warning shots at a Chinese patrol boat that had reportedly breached South Korea's maritime borders near the Northern Limit Line, an area disputed by the two Koreas.
"The Chinese side expresses concern over this incident. The Chinese Embassy in Seoul has already contacted the relevant authorities, demanding that South Korea clarify the situation," Hua said at a daily briefing.
The foreign ministry spokeswoman added that there have been no reports of the ship sustaining damage or any of the crew members being injured in the incident.
According to the South Korean navy, the Chinese ship was conducting an anti-fishermen raid when it entered South Korea's territorial waters. The vessel returned to the north after the warning shots and the repeated warnings.
