MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Trilateral talks between representatives of Russia, the United States and the United Nations on the situation in Syria will be held in Geneva on December 11, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Wednesday.
"We will have consultations in a trilateral format: Russia, the United States, the United Nations," Gatilov told RIA Novosti, adding that he would take part in the meeting.
According to the deputy minister, the sides are meeting "first of all to hear out [Syria envoy Staffan] de Mistura on the UN's work, the promotion of intra-Syrian dialogue."
"We hope he will voice his opinion on these issues, including on the format of further negotiations," Gatilov said. Russia will note the need to intensify the fight against terrorism during the talks.
