US Revises Guideline for Airspace Obstructions Marking - Aviation Authority
00:04 GMT 09.12.2015 (Updated: 10:38 GMT 06.08.2022) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has updated its guidelines for the proper way to light and mark obstructions affecting navigable airspace over and around the United States, the agency announced in a news release.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — New lighting and marking standards are provided to reduce the impact on migratory bird populations, the FAA said.
"New lighting is specified for wind turbines at various heights," the release stated on Tuesday. "These recommendations will provide needed guidance for the rapidly developing wind industry that takes into account the unique characteristics of wind turbine farms."

New lighting is specified for wind turbines at various heights to provide needed guidance for the US wind industry, the release said.
The FAA also "implemented standards for voluntary marking of meteorological evaluation towers lower than 200 feet… to make meteorological evaluation towers more noticeable and to add an extra layer of protection for low-level agricultural flight operations," it added.
