MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) party got 112 seats after all the votes have been counted, while President Nicolas Maduro’s United Socialist Party of Venezuela got 55 in the Sunday elections, according to the national electoral council.
"I saw thanks in advance to all ministers, they are always devoted to their work… some have been in the government for three years, some – for three months, my acknowledgement goes out to all of you," Maduro said.
Until the election upset, the socialist pro-presidential party had remained in power for 15 years, since then-President Hugo Chavez launched his leftist social movement, Bolivarian Revolution.
