PARIS (Sputnik) — Alix Mazounie warned against short-term interests and urged technologically developed states to send developing countries a signal that they will give grants to those states in need of support to adapt and introduce carbon emission cuts.
"There are still too many red lines on the table. Compromises need to be made, but there are two kinds of compromises…ones that will threaten ambition, and ones that will work to deliver the kind of deal we need," Mazounie said on the sidelines of the 21st UN Climate Change Conference in Paris.
The states participating in the Paris conference are expected to reach a final agreement to address global warming and cut carbon emissions, introducing a legally binding and universal strategy on the issue, which is expected to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on Friday.
